Q: What is a FREE PREVIEW?
A: A free preview is a computer simulation of what the final headstone would look like. Free previews are offered for headstones, laser etched tiles, cremation boxes, laser etched crystal, and granite signs. For headstones we will provide up to 2 free previews prior to receiving a deposit on the order and 1 free preview for all other products. Once a deposit is received we can do additional previews at no additional charge up to 4 free previews (total) for headstones and 2 (total) for other products. Additional previews are available for an added fee.
Q: What restrictions might the cemetery have for headstones?
A: Some cemeteries only allow certain size and models of headstones to be placed into their cemetery. Please call the cemetery and tell them what you have in mind. They will advise you on any restrictions. We do not contact cemeteries for this information unless we are installing the monument locally. Getting the cemetery's approval is the sole responsibility of the purchaser on shipped orders.
Q: What is the process of ordering a headstone?
A: Since Mike's Laser Etching is a direct granite importer, we have the products in stock and all etching is done on site. For an overview of the ordering process please CLICK HERE. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns after reviewing this information.
Q: What courier service do you use to ship the headstone?
A: For large headstones, we use RLC Carriers. Please go to www.rlcarriers.com to track your shipment once a tracking number has been provided. Flush Markers 24" x 12" or smaller, Granite Signs, & Cremation Boxes, we ship via UPS Ground service. The shipping of these products can be tracked on www.UPS.com once the tracking number has been provided to you. Laser etched tiles & crystal are shipped via USPS Priority Mail when possible. For DE, MD, NJ, and PA, we may be able to deliver and install the headstone. Please call us for details at 1-877-836-0332.
Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: For details on our 6 month interest free payment plan, CLICK HERE. We require at least 50% down to etch the headstone. The headstone will not be shipped until payment has been received in full.
Q: I ordered a bench. Does it arrive assembled?
A: Our MK59 granite benches are sent in 3 separate pieces (top, 2 legs). Our MK78 Park Style granite benches are shipped in 4 seperate pieces (2 legs, backrest, & seat). You can purchase any tile and tub sealer from any local hardware store for attaching the legs to the top of the granite bench. If additional help is needed, the owner, Mike, would be happy to give you additional instruction for setting up and installing the granite bench by phone. Contact our customer service staff to set up a call from Mike.
Q: I am getting a companion headstone for my spouse and I. They are deceased. When I pass, who adds my date?
A: We will leave the death date blank for any surviving members on the headstone. We use a standard ROMAN font for the dates, which is standard in the monument business. The cemetery can let you know who to contact to add the final date.
Q: I received a photo by email of my finished headstone. Why are there appear to be white specks in the stone?
A: Granite and Marble are natural products of the Earth. We guarantee you will receive the best. When a picture is taken, the flash reflects off the grain in the stone. Once you see the headstone in person, you will not see the specks. The picture is just to give you an idea of what it looks like finished. Pictures do not entirely show quality.
Q: What kinds of pictures can be laser etched?
A: We recommend clear detailed pictures. The etching is only a good as the picture we receive. If the picture is blurry or pixelated, it may etch poorly. We will reject photos that will not produce a quality etching. Professional photos are also preferable when available. You can email a digital photo to us, or mail the original.
-Digitial photos should be scanned at a resolution of at least 300 dpi and a size of 3" x 5" or larger when possible. Smaller images may be o.k. and will be reviewed on an individual basis. -Original photos should be of good quality and 3" x 5" or larger. You can mail us the photo (including a self addressed stamped enevelope if you need the photo returned) to the following address:

Q: I want someone or something removed from a photo before it is etched...Can that be done?
A: Yes. There may be an additional customization fee. These fees are priced per job, depending on what needs to be done.
Q: When will I receive the headstone I ordered?
A: Standard orders are completed within approx. 3-5 weeks. We must also receive a signed contract, approved preview, and payment in full. We do have express shipping for an additional cost of $250.00. With express shipping, the monument will be shipped within 7 - 14 business days after payment and signed paperwork have been received.
Q: Am I limited to using your designs or can I use one of mine?
A: As long as what design you want to use is a clear, detailed picture, we can use it. Pictures taken of pictures are not recommended due to lack of clarity and poor quality of the image. Images taken from the internet usually have a resolution of 72 dpi, which will not result in a quality etching. Thus not all images from the internet can be used for etching.
